ON MY WAY

Three hundred rainy, midnight miles to the Comfort Inn in Harrisburg, PA. I’m on my way to a suburb of Philly to record some bass tracks for the next Hamell On Trial album. Gayle and I spent the afternoon yesterday shopping for our upcoming trip, and we wrapped it up with a quick dinner before I hit the road. I mentioned I was happy that life was so busy these days that it hasn’t allowed me time to either sweat or over-anticipate this week’s recording session. It’s strange enough when someone you grow up idolizing in some ways (artistically, their apparent limitless freedom in expression and complete fearlessness, the most pure jolt of ROCK energy you’ve ever witnessed, etc) becomes someone whom you talk with regularly, and eventually begin working with on a weekly basis. That’s still trippy to me, and today has been 8 months in the making.
