It’s 6:28am, and I’m one sweaty bitch. It was freezing when I left the house at 10 til six. I most likely think too much when I run. Sometimes my thoughts turn to “if I can make it to that next light up there without vomiting up my lungs, I’ll walk for a few seconds and then resume.” I stayed more zen the first 10 minutes and made it to my secret spot up at the lake. The sun was already blinding off the water, and it was good.
I try to keep my ritual of breathing, list everything I’m grateful for, marinate all my thoughts into whatever I’m listening to. More of the new Paul Simon today. The song “Another Galaxy” breaks my heart, it’s so beautiful. Seeing him now makes me kinda sad in a way, cuz he’s gotten so old and slightly weird. But to hear him is like hearing him when he was 16. He still sounds so young and full of better ideas than anybody, ever. His stuff is just so deep. Listening to any of his songs fills my head with so much imagery that it buries any crap I think I’m going through. Today will be a great day, much like yesterday. And oh yes, Dan was right. The new Neil Young “Living With War” is excellent. Thank God for people with heart and balls to match. I mean Neil, Dan. Your ego is getting outta control. Aren’t you travelling to to see yer girlfriend this weekend? That’s hot.
We booked The Carter Familys’ Great Outdoors Adventure this weekend. In August we’re heading to the North Woods of Wisconsin for some whitewater rafting, rock climbing, nipple twistin & toe pinchin. 10 adults and Elliott, 5 bedrooms of cabin fever, 8 gallons of blush and a 10 pack of hotdogs. Holla!
